ALOHA! AHOJ!
my p-days are on Fridays so here we are at a kind of weekly email but I've only been in Hawaii 5 days, hehe. So far hawaii has been lots of, "ok, this is sort of a fever dream and I don't know what I'm doing at all but I'm here for the ride so let's keep going". Haha :)
gratitude🤠
1) Sister Kim is my mission buddy (companion) and is training me on how to do basically everything out here. She is from Korea and she is so patient, so goofy, and so sweet. I have soooooo many questions and I'm exhausting her but she always gives amazing answers :)
2) When I got here those first two days when we had orientation and such, I was in a mindset that I'm sort of another missionary they need to make room for because this isn't my original assignment. I didn't exactly feel I belonged or had a place (still sort of feel like that sometimes but life is full of ups and downs, am I right? Right). Anyways, Sister Kim and Elder King (the person over the missionaries in this area) both said to me so many times how grateful they are that I'm here. I hadn't told them what I was feeling, they just said it and it meant a lot to me to hear it. Exactly what I needed to hear actually :)
3) grateful for my Savior :) He is so wonderful, isn't He? He loves the people of Hawaii so much and loves me the same. That keeps me happy and going, sincerely. Whoever you are, I love you! Good luck with your week, I pray you find many moments of joy!!
Love, Sestra Call
Bonus thought: Ether chapter 8. It's a history of these evil secret combinations or groups that tried to overthrow good rulers and gain power (yikes). I was reading this thinking to myself, "this is such a sad and just unpleasant story why is this in here? What can I even learn from these dudes who are manipulating and hurting others?". And then at the end of the chapter, my question got answered :) :) the Lord tells us these things to prepare us for when they happen again. "When [we] see these things come among [us]" says verse 24. God isn't ever unprepared. And so I think to myself, "why would He want us to be?". I liked that a lot. If you have another thought as to why it's in there feel free to let me know, too :)
My elephant named Kim and my current mission mom, Sister Kim. Hehe
